With more than 2,800 acres of pine and hardwood forest, open land, ponds and wetlands, Howell Woods is an educational nature preserve in southern Johnston County and within an hour of the Research Triangle Park. The late businessman and philanthropist Rudolph Howell donated the property to Johnston Community College, which uses it for instruction and educational research. Programs may be conducted in a spacious classroom environment with full facilities, or in an outdoor pavilion. Miles of forest trails beckon our off-road Segways for guided exploration, bird-watching and innovative leadership activities. | |
